I consult in synthetic biology technology and education, open source biology, the international Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) program and DIYbio.

My goal is to help grow a next-generation biotechnology industry that can better address environmental, health, and manufacturing concerns. I do this by raising awareness of the tools and technologies that are emerging or evolving with students, scientists, government officials, and business leaders; by facilitating introductions, and by helping groups or regions that want to participate find the economic and other resources necessary to proceed. My current focus is preparing for launch a new Canada-based cooperative biotechnology company focused on breast cancer therapeutics.

Contact me if you are interested in learning the landscape of synthetic biology, creating iGEM or undergraduate programs in your area, or considering investments in for-profit, non-profit, or open source biotechnology,
