Welcome to the Atkin lab wiki!
We are in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We study gene regulatory mechanisms in two fungal model organisms, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida albicans with the goal of understanding how cell and developmental biology is regulated. Using a combination of molecular genetic and systems biology approaches, we investigate the regulation of wild-type gene expression by the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay pathway, and the regulation of morphogenesis of Candida albicans by quorum sensing.
