Postdoctoral Fellow: Bioinformatics in Epigenetics

We have an opening for a Postdoctoral fellow interested in Bioinformatics/Computational Epigenetics applied to Stem Cell and Cancer Biology. This fellow will have access to raw genome wide sequencing data on DNA methylation, histone modification and structural alterations in stem cells and tumors.

Questions of interest include the following:

  • Identify the epigenomic/network basis of stem cell pluripotency and self renewal
  • Evolutionary analysis of human and mouse epigenomes
  • Identify epigenetically labile and aberrantly methylated genes in cancer
  • Relate epigenetic modification patterns to gene expression (i.e. decipher the "histone code")
  • Identification and function of regulatory long noncoding RNAs in silencing.

I am open to other related projects as well. Most of these projects require good knowledge or strong interest in epigenetics, knowledge of bioinformatic algorithms and standard statistical methods.

Undergraduates

  • 3rd or 4th year Undergraduates from a Canadian University who are interested in doing summer research (either wetlab or bioinformatics) are encouraged to email me.
  • I am particularly interested in undergraduates in Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics who are interested in mathematical modeling or Bioinformatics
