Capturing Biology One Model at a Time

Ideas for this review:

I think it would be interesting to discuss the role of computational biology in life sciences over the years. It could be from an historical perspective but not necessarily so. The objective would be to show that slowly but surely bioinformatics is capturing biology by improving on different types of models. Gene models, protein domains, the binding specificity to DNA/proteins and network models of metabolism and signaling. Since this would cover a lot of different backgrounds it might be good for a collaborative project.
