A sophomore at MIT, Aliya is originally from the Boston area. She currently studying Materials Science and Engineering, and has a special interest in biological applications. She is also planning to pursue a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and possibly in Comparative Media Studies. She is planing to attend medical school after graduating from MIT. Aside from designing complex nano structures with DNA, Aliya spends her time dancing, glassblowing, mentoring high school girls, and hopefully someday, will be traveling the world.

Maria Elena is currently a junior at MIT majoring in Biological Engineering. She loves living in Boston, but misses the beaches and warm weather from Puerto Rico, where she was born and raised. In her free time she likes to hang out with her sorority sisters and friends, cook, explore Boston, and go on spontaneous adventures. What gets her through a week at MIT? Weekend plans. When at home she enjoys catching up with her family and friends and just relaxing on the beach. She has a passion for traveling and music. In fact, she considered auditioning for Broadway before coming to MIT. Now she is planning on pursuing a minor in music. Like Aliya, she will hopefully travel the world someday.
