Purpose

CAPS stands for 3-cyclohexylamino-1-propanesulfonic acid and is used in the protocol for heme staining of polyacrylamide gel blots

Recipe

1X CAPS is 10mM, pH 11

To make 5L of 1X CAPS,

  1. Combine the following:
    • 11.07g CAPS
    • 4.5L 10% Methanol
  2. Adjust pH to 7.4 with around 5mL concentrated HCl
  3. Add 10% Methanol to 5L and
