The Ecological Genomics Program focuses on the study of bacterial populations, their diversity, taxonomy, as well as on the molecular basis of bacterial functions involved in the interactions of bacteria with plants, animals, and humans. Besides these aspects of basic research, applications are developed for the improvement of the environment, for agriculture, and for medical purposes. The program comprises three independent groups with common seminars and constant academic interaction.
