Escherichia coli/Knockouts
From OpenWetWare
The Keio collection is a collection of systematic single-gene knock-out mutants of E. coli K-12 done by the Functional Genomic Analysis of E. coli in Japan project [1].
These strains are currently available from a number of sources:
The National Institute of Genetics in Japan, or the E. coli Genetic Stock Center (CGSC).
The entire collection as a set can also be obtained from Open Biosystems
Alternatively, you can obtain the relevant plasmids and strains for doing the knockouts yourself from the CGSC (the "Wanner gene disruption kit")[2].
