Ferran was born in Barcelona in 1986. He spent his childhood in the fascinating neighbourhood of "Gracia" halfway between the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell (the breathtaking masterpieces of Gaudí). By then he already felt a special curiosity for science and mathematics. When it came time to go to college, it was clear that biology was not cool enough for him, so he decided to move to the beautiful town of Vic, located in the Catalan countryside, to start studying Biotechnology there. After 4 years, his desire to see the world led him to go to complete his studies at Cardiff (Wales) where he spent 6 wonderful months. After that adventure, he decided he wanted to become a master of the universe. For this effort, he returned to Barcelona where he completed his master's degree in Molecular Biotechnology. He carried out his master thesis in the laboratory of Manuel Perucho at the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC), studying the abnormal methylation and expression levels of a colon cancer-related gene. Since October 2010 he has joined Nijman’s lab at CeMM as a PhD student where he is focused on finding SSL interactions in lung cancer, which will surely be a legendary experience!
