-<font size=-3>  Q is a reference to the race of omnipotent beings in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the character Q.  It is also a reference to one of my favorite characters in Moby Dick, Queequeg.  The ix is an allusion to the word (with the Q) quixotic, meaning foolishly impractical in the pursuit of ideals. </font>
