Salts
Calcium chloride
To make 100 mL of 0.10 M:
- 1.47 g CaCl2 · 2H2O
- add dH2O to 100 mL
Magnesium chloride
To make 100 mL of 0.10 M:
- 2.03 g MgCl2 · 6H2O
- add dH2O to 100 mL
Potassium chloride
To make 100 mL of 1.0 M:
- 7.46 g KCl
- add dH2O to 100 mL
Sodium chloride
To make 100 mL of 1.0 M:
- 5.84 g NaCl
- add dH2O to 100 mL
Standard buffers
Tris-acetate
To make 100 mL of 2.0 M:
- 24.2 g Tris
- add dH2O to 90 mL
- add glacial acetic acid until desired pH (pH 7.4 is about 7 mL of acid)
- add dH2O to 100 mL
Mixed buffers
Bock's selection buffer
To make 100 mL of 5x:
- 5 mL of 2 M Tris-acetate pH 7.4 (final concentration: 100 mM)
- 70 mL of 1 M NaCl (final concentration: 0.7 M)
- 2.5 mL of 1 M KCl (final concentration: 25 mM)
- 5 mL of 0.1 M CaCl2 (final concentration: 5 mM)
- 5 mL of 0.1 M MgCl2 (final concentration: 5 mM)
- 12.5 mL dH2O
