Post-doctoral fellowship in Stem Cell Biomechanics

Applications are requested for a post-doctoral fellowship in the area of stem
cell mechanotransduction at Columbia University’s Cell and Molecular
Biomechanics Lab (bme.columbia.edu/fac-bios/jacobs/faculty.html &
jacobs.openwetware.org). This lab takes a multi-disciplinary approach to
studying cellular events involved in mechanotransduction and
mechanobiology. Support will be from a NY state research grant and the
position will initially be for two years with the possibility of a one-year
extension. The research involves investigation of the cell and molecular
level mechanism responsible for mechanotransduction in mesenchymal stem
cells (MSC). A successful candidate will be a motivated creative researcher
with experience in biomedical engineering or other engineering discipline.
Experience studying cellular systems and in vivo molecular imaging would
be an advantage. The candidate will be expected to interact as part of a
multifaceted research team. Training in cellular and molecular approaches
will be provided with both in vitro and in vivo systems. Interviewing of
potential candidates will begin in mid-November
Interested candidates should contact Dr. Christopher Jacobs by email
(christopher.jacobs@columbia.edu) and provide a CV or resume of research
experience and accomplishments, short summary of doctoral research,
unofficial graduate transcript, electronic contact information for up to three
references, as well as a statement of research/career goals and future vision
and how a CMBL fellowship will contribute (limited to one page). Please
visit the CMBL website prior to preparing this statement.
