We are investigating the role of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)transcription factors in differentiation and cell-type specification of neural subtypes.  We are determining the cis-regulatory code and downstream targets of Atoh1, Neurog1/2, Ascl1, and Ptf1a.  In addition, we are tracing the lineage of these factors to assess the ultimate cell fate of the neural subtypes they specify.
