The Laboratory for Biological Information Processing - LabPIB (after the Portuguese acronym), was created in 2008 with the mission/ambition of contribution to the biology understanding by means of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioinformatics bioinformatics] research, teaching and outreach. Given the broad implications of bioinformatics to modern biotechnology and biology itself, we consider this mission a big and important challenge. In our perspective, bioinformatics is characterized by the intense usage of computational and mathematical techniques for the generation and management of bioinformation. Here at LabPIB we develop research in specific sub(sub-sub)-fields of bioinformatics related to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_biology Molecular Biology] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systems_biology Systems Biology] of microorganisms. | |||
O Laboratório de Processamento de Informação Biológica - LabPIB, foi criado em 2008 com a missão/ambição de contribuir para o entendimento da Biologia por meio de pesquisa, ensino e extensão na área de [http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioinform%C3%A1tica Bioinformática]. Dadas as vastas implicações da Bioinformática para a Biotecnologia moderna e da própria Biologia, nós consideramos esta missão um grande e importante desafio. Na nossa perspectiva, a Bioinformática é caracterizada pela aplicação intensiva de técnicas computacionais e matemáticas para a geração e gerenciamento de bioinformação. Aqui no LabPIB nós desenvolvemos pesquisas em sub(sub-sub-...)-áreas específicas da Bioinformática, relacionadas à [http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biologia_molecular Biologia Molecular] e [http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biologia_Sist%C3%AAmica Biologia Sistêmica] ([http://www.overstream.net/view.php?oid=upmfubafidu7 vídeo]) de microorganismos. | |||
