2--(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid, CAS 4432-31-9 [1][2][3]. Stable pH vs. temperature, no primary amine groups, no metal chelation, near physiologic pH range.

  • usable buffering range of 5.5 to 6.7

Buffers are typically 1 M, prepared by neutralizing MES with sodium hydroxide.
