PFGL Lab is located on the Middle East Technical University campus in the Department of chemistry. Our research is focused on plant functional genetics.Recent research activities employ plant molecular biological tools and plant functional genomics approaches with emphasis on plant biotic and abiotic stresses and resistance responses; yellow rust, powdery mildew, zinc efficiency, and boron tolerance in wheat, barley, and gypsophila. We are interested in identifying and isolating micro RNAs in both plant and pathogen their roles in host pathogen interaction in resistance and susceptibility conditions.
Genetic relationship analysis using molecular markers: Markers such as AFLP and SSRs are used for DNA fingerprinting of the wheat species and their wild ancestors. The study is being enriched by direct DNA analysis of oldest wheat samples from Catalhoyuk (8500 BC).

DNA fingerprinting and genetic relationship analysis of wild type wheat and cultivated wheat and barley. can generally be defined ocuses on plant functional genomics analysis of crop disease resistance, such as wheat yellow rust, barley powdery mildew, and mechanism of wheat yellow rust disease.
