Notes

  • Software Development:
    • A proposal was brought up to start a "distribution" of Mediawiki with the OWW extensions. This would help labs or individuals who wanted to setup their own wiki to be able to take advantage of some of the tools we've made to support science on OWW.
      • There was a fair bit of debate over how much work this would entail, and what exactly OWW gains from it. However, as a first step Ilya agreed to put up his Mediawiki instal instructions.
  • Community Development:
    • Ty will be interacting with the MathWorks folks who are thinking about using OWW for a bio-related toolbox
  • User Experience/Data Management:
    • We talked a bit about what Jenny might work on next, suggestions included FAQ/help sections or looking more into ways to tag or categorize protocols.
    • Jason and Sri will be "tidying up" the labs on the front page and emailing labs that only have a link to thier static homepage to warn them that they'll be removed from the front page in a week if the page isn't updated. We'll be creating a "labs in progress" page and place these labs there.
  • Lab highlights:
    • John will be highlighting a couple labs next month. This seemed like a good way to recognize active labs as well as to encourage more contribution.
  • Funding:
    • Fair bit of discussion about this, decided we should have another meeting. You can find the notes here.
