High resolution version

• RS 19:42, 24 March 2006 (EST): Can we get variants of these banners that are high resolution for posters? I am putting a banner on my poster but I think it is going to come out grainy because the images are quite small. It's not a big deal (i.e. no rush) but it might be nice to have large, high resolution banners for large posters.

Click template

• BC 14:56, 13 March 2006 (EST):Anybody know why a link line shows up on the main page when using the click template? Doesn't look too cool.
• Jennyn 14:59, 13 March 2006 (EST): No idea, I was trying to fix it but I can't figure it out.
• BC 14:56, 13 March 2006 (EST):I made a minor change to the click template that seems to have fixed it. We'll have to see if the change negatively affects any of the other instances of click.

Banner

• Austin 15:09, 13 March 2006 (EST): I'm getting confused by the Join OWW and this page. Not sure why there's multiple pages. Anyway, I think we should standardize or one of these for advertising purposes: openwetware.org and www.openwetware.org. I would suggest the shorter one and make all the links/text to be openwetware.org. Also, regarding the long name in the logos, having both the url and the name seems a bit redundant. For example, for the small horizontal logos, if you just removed OWW from the box, it seems like it would be a pretty compact logo. Or for the long horizontal one, if the URL at the bottom is removed and .org added to the first line, that could work also.
• Jennyn 15:21, 13 March 2006 (EST): I did this differently so we could have a little bit of variety in what is posted. Of course, it looks pretty gross when you look at all the banners at once, but most likely, someone will post just one that works best on their site. I'll fiddle around with them to see how they look with your suggestions.
• RS 10:47, 14 March 2006 (EST): So I know that this comment comes a bit late, but should the background color of these banners be light green rather than purple? If we are going with the light green color scheme, it seems like the banners should have a similar color to better connect with the site. If it's hard to change, then no worries. Just thought I'd ask.
• Jennyn 12:10, 14 March 2006 (EST): Never too late. I started with purple because it was closest to our color scheme right now (since the new logo hasn't been updated). When the new color scheme is put into play, I'll adjust the colors. Or I can just do that right now. Since we didn't seem to have any objections on the new colors + logo, can we change it to the new scheme? We just need the high-res of the logo posted and to give me the "go" so I can get to it.
  • Jennyn 13:36, 14 March 2006 (EST): I posted one using the new color scheme, however, I will redo it because I need Jen's high-res image of the emblem so all of the banners will look better.
• RS 17:40, 14 March 2006 (EST): OK one more late in the game comment  :). I like the new colors (thanks Jenny!), but do we also want to use the same kind of font and shading as appears in the new logo (see the top of Main Page v2) on these banners as well? Or does using that font make the word "OpenWetWare" become too wide? Again, I am just suggesting this to make the banners more connected to the site itself.
• George 20:16, 14 March 2006 (EST): I suggest creating a couple more "standard" sized buttons (look here). I would emphasize 88x31, 468x60, and 80x15 is also a popular size now, especially on blog websites. It's crucial if we want webmasters to actually use them. The easier it is to integrate, the more likely they are to add one to their page.
• Austin 08:55, 15 March 2006 (EST): Do we want to add some variant of the support oww banner to every page? Either to the left sidebar or to the bottom of every page.
