Ji Ho (Joe) Park received his B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 2002 and his M.S. degree in Medical Sciences from Yonsei University, South Korea in 2004. His M.S. thesis work involved the development of biodegradable polymer conduits for peripheral nerve regeneration in tissue engineering fields. He came to the States in 2004 and received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from University of California, San Diego in 2009. His Ph.D. thesis work involved the development of biosafe nanomaterials and cooperative nanosystems for cancer diagnosis and therapeutics in the laboratory of Prof. Michael J. Sailor in Chemistry and Bioengineering. His Ph.D. work was done in strong collaboration with the laboratory of Prof. Erkki Ruoslahti in Cancer Biology at Burnham-Sanford Medical Research Institute at UC, Santa Barbara and with the laboratory of Prof. Sangeeta Bhatia in Bioengineering at MIT. He performed his post-doctoral studies under the direction of Prof. Peidong Yang in Chemistry at University of California, Berkeley in 2009-2010 working on the nanowire-based systems for biological and energy applications. He joined the faculty in the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST in October, 2010. He is the author of over 45 research publications, in subjects related to cancer nanotechnology, materials chemistry, biomaterials, nanomaterials and tissue engineering. He has 10 patents or patents pending.
