DARPA Young Faculty Award

Christine was awarded a DARPA Young Faculty Award in in 2011. Research funded through this award is aimed at using cells to carry out non-biological chemical reactions including the formation of nanowires.

NIH Director's New Innovator Award

In 2009, Christine was awarded an NIH Director's New Innovator Award. This award provides $1.5M to the lab over a 5 year period. This award was established by the NIH "to support exceptionally creative new investigators who propose highly innovative projects that have the potential for unusually high impact."

NIH Research Scholar Development Award

Initial funding for the Payne Lab was provided by a NIH Research Scholar Development Award (K22).
