Notebook format
Notebooks should probably include some important stuff. Professor Michael Gold, instructor for previous 307L classes, required the following:
- Purpose
- Statement of the principle of the measurement
- Sketch of apparatus
- Notes from procedure taken while setting up and calibration
- Include any calibration data and analysis to determine calibration constants and there errors.
- Notes from acquiring data
- Include all raw data
- Data deemed unusable should be labeled as such
- Data deemed usable should be labeled as such
- Calculations and plots needed to complete the experiment
- Calculations leading to determination of error on q or test of h
