  1. Discussion of Lab #1
    • Official in-class exam is not practicable. Therefore it is informal and ongoing (whenever we talk about things).
  2. Discussion of changes to course
    • Rough draft of final report due beginning of Week 12 (Nov. 5)
    • Bonus points on final lab writeup given for contributions to wiki lab manual (a lot of you have a great start on this already)
  3. Calculating mean +/- standard error of the mean (aka standard error & standard deviation of them mean)
    • This is the foundation: allow us to find the most likely value of a parameter, with an associated value. Knowing how to do this is essential for more sophisticated things we will learn: error propagation, fitting functions, etc.
    • Central limit theorem (I): (Last week) distribution of averaged measurmeents ... (II): distribution of single measurement as a result of a bunch of small, independent, random errors.
