Welcome to Renhao Li Lab We are a lab interested in transmembrane proteins and receptors because they are one of the frontiers in protein research and because they are often drug targets that are closely associated with diseases. Our research centers around the following questions: How do membrane receptors transmit signals across the cell membrane? How can we modulate the transmission of these signals to combat diseases? We focus on membrane receptors involved in cardiovascular and immune diseases. We take a multidisciplinary approach, using a wide array of techniques in molecular biology, structural biology, cell biology, and bioengineering. Recent Updates 11/2011: Wenjun's paper showing, for the first time, a 3-dimensional structural model of the GPIb-IX complex is out in Blood! This model captures everything we know about the GPIb-IX complex, and also raises a number of interesting questions. It is published with a companion commentary on Blood. 11/2011: Dr. Liang Zhou joined the lab as a postdoc fellow. Mr. Sung Yun Cho joined the lab as a technician. 8/2011: We completed the move from UTHealth to Emory. Go to Gallery for details.
