Steps to buy Chemicals

  1. Check on the website if the chemical is already available in the lab before placing an order.
  2. After purchasing, place a copy of the receipt in the receipt folder, fill the yellow purchaing form and submit it to the main office.
  3. Place the MSDS sheet in Lab Safety Notebook. If it is a re-order, replace the old sheet with the new one to keep it updated.
  4. Make sure the chemical is placed in the appropriate rack. There are different shelves for organic and inorganic chemicals, and microorganisms. Flammable chemicals and strong acids go into the flammable rack below the hood.
  5. Update the table on the website to notify other students.
  6. Leave notes regarding the maintenance requirements of the chemical. For example, specifications regarding usage of the chemical you would like other students to follow etc.
  7. Make sure you leave a note on the website if you (or others) are borrowing the chemical and taking it to another laboratory.
