Outreach

Science is a community effort and relies on continued support from the public to keep learning about our planet and how it affects our lives. The more we engage with other scientists and the general public, the further we advance the scientific enterprise.

At the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, I worked with several local high school students to do short-term lab internships and designed in-home science projects. I also participated in several open house events ("Tag der Öffnen Tür") by assisting with microscope demonstrations for kids.

As a Ph.D. student at the University of Washington, I worked with the following organizations to promote science in the Seattle community.

The Forum on Science, Ethics and Policy
The University of Washington Botany Greenhouse
The University of Washington Medicinal Herb Garden
