A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the lab of Jeroen Saeij, PhD in the Biology Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Our lab is interested in host-pathogen interactions and we are using the obligate intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii as a model. We are currently using high-throughput sequencing methods to analyze strain differences in the modulation of host gene expression and are comparing the genomes/transcriptomes of different strains. We have also identified host differences in resistance to Toxoplasma and we are currently conducting a large scale genomics study with the aim of understanding the molecular basis of the genetic variation in host response to Toxoplasma. The lab is currently funded by an RO1 from the NIH, the American Heart Association, The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and The New England Regional Center of Excellence. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a PhD and good programming skills (python and/or perl), experience with handling large data sets is a plus. Please submit your Curriculum Vitae to Jeroen Saeij, PhD (jsaeij@mit.edu)
