3 January 2013 Dr Cem Albayrak's paper, "Using E. coli-based cell-free protein synthesis to evaluate the kinetic performance of an orthogonal tRNA and aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase pair", was published in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications.

21 December 2012 Stanford VPUE awarded an undergradaute research grant to Taylor Nguyen and Nik Evitt for the cyanobacteria foundational tools project.
