There are many ongoing searches world wide that mention the field of synthetic biology (or biological engineering) despite the down turn in the overall job market. Some searches are solely for synthetic biologists. Excellent resources for finding current advertisements are Google, Nature (searches outside the USA) and Science (USA searches; mostly in journal issues from July-October).
Chemical/Biological Engineering Faculty Position, Colorado State University
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Colorado State University seeks applications and nominations for a tenure-track chemical/biological engineering faculty position at the assistant professor level. Successful candidates will develop well-funded research programs and actively participate in education and scholarship activities. This position is specifically targeted to candidates who would focus their research in the area of bioenergy. Applicants with interests and expertise in synthetic biology, including protein and metabolic engineering, are particularly encouraged. Applications from candidates with the ability to advance the Department's commitment to diversity and multiculturalism through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities are particularly encouraged. A Ph.D. or equivalent in chemical or biological engineering, or related field, is required by January 2011.
