"CG methylation matters"

Welcome to the SiLENT group

(Silencing, Environment and Transposons)

Our research aims to delineate the molecular mechanisms of gene silencing. Using Arabidopsis as a model organism, we investigate how DNA methylation homeostasis is achieved, how epigenetic information influences genome stability and how environment can modulate epigenetic processes.

Haploid plants (represented by pink pots) have only one copy of each chromosome, and are very useful in plant breeding. We have produced haploids by manipulating centromeres. Image by Janet Iwasa.

Postdoc position available 1/29/2011
We are looking for a postdoc to work on genome elimination caused by centromere alterations. Please email Simon if you are interested. Include your CV and a brief description of a project you might pursue in our lab.
