Workshop for BioBrick data exchange
held:
The workshop is planned as a satellite to the First International Workshop on Bio-Design Automation IWBDA.
Objective
We will try to finalize a consensus draft for a protocol that facilitates the exchange and publication of BioBrick-related data. The draft will be submitted as RFC and we will try to convince the relevant journals to adopt it as a recommendation.
tentative Agenda (not confirmed)
Day 1
- Welcome + Objectives of the workshop
- Existing landscape:
- existing DNA sequence standards + their associated tools (database / analysis)
- Existing and relevant ontologies + missing ones to support DNA part description
- The Minimum Information Required effort
- Status of BioBrick exchange
- Update on PoBoL (Provisional BioBrick Language)
- Update on ?
- Lunch
- Brainstorming sessions I (in smaller groups for 1h):
- BioBrick schema for experimentalists (BioBrick, BioBrick relations, Devices)
- Description for CAD/modelling tools ()
- Reporting on brainstorming sessions
- BioBrick data exchange architecture
- Dinner
Day 2
- Work in 2 separate groups:
- Documentation working group (RFCs):
- Information Required for a BioBrick
- Information Required for a Device
- RDF decription
- Implementation working group:
- Tools required to support the adoption of a Standard Description of a Biobrick.
- draft python/java API
- TinkerCell/BrickIt/Clotho integration
- Documentation working group (RFCs):
- Reporting on working sessions (everyone)
- Draft of a paper
- Conclusion + what's next
