The first semester of CHEM-570 will build off of the protein films research published by Bakshi, et al (doi:10.1021/jp110296y). the project in this notebook will document analysis of the protein films.

Project Description

The BioMaterials Design Laboratory at American University is the upper level laboratory course, CHEM571 and CHEM572, which investigates the incorporation of protein nucleated gold nanoparticles into protein films, inspired by the protein film research published by Bakshi, et al (doi:10.1021/jp110296y).

For the Fall of 2012 we are looking at how the protein nucleation of the AuNPs are affected by their environment.

My Project Tasks - for Fall 2012

  1. investigate ionic strength and pH affects on protein nucleation of AuNPs
    1. with BSA, lysozyme and Adenosine deaminase
  2. synthesize Adenosine deaminase
  3. create two mutates of Adenosine deaminase
