Objective

To synthesize lysozyme-AuNP.

Procedure

Creating the Gold Stock Solution

  1. Add 0.010048 g of HAuCl4·3H2O to a 10 mL volumetric flask and fill with distilled water.
  2. The final concentration of gold stock was 2.53 mM.

Creating the Lysozyme Stock Solution

  1. Add 0.00570 g of lysozyme to a 20 mL volumetric flask and fill with distilled water.
  2. The final concentration of lysozyme stock was 0.02 mM.

Synthesizing Lysozyme-AuNP

Solutions with the following Au:protein ratio were synthesized:

Gold to Lysozyme Ratio
  • 40
  • 50
  • 110
  • Figure 1 shows the exact volumes of each stock solution added to a test tube. The test tubes were capped with aluminum foil before heated.
  • The samples were heated at 80°C for 4 hours.
