Our interest are first in improving the technology by developing new designs and second in exploiting the technique in neurobiology, more specifically to study neurite guidance and axonal regeneration in artificial microenvironments. The microfluidic probe (MFP) has unique properties that enable us to use it either as a cell micromanipulator, a protein patterning system or local perfusion device. The MFP can thus be used to precisely tailor the cellular microenvironment.
