Research Interests
We (with students Jake and Bill and the gracious help of the rest of the synthetic biology team) are pursuing the design and construction of a cell-based, multi-plex sensor-memory device. Such a device will be able to report whether specific events occur in a cell or whether certain compounds are present in the cell's environment. Furthermore, such a system is also designed to report on how much of a thing the system is sensing, and storing such information in itself as well as its descendants. A key feature of such a system will also be its portability to various environmental stimuli/cellular events.
