Objective

To try to control the aggregation process of AuNP/BSA.

Description

  1. Make 4 solutions of AuNP:
    • Solutions 1 and 2 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 35)
      1. Combine 0.5 mL of 2.5 mM HAuCl4 and 0.0706 mL of 0.0177 mM BSA in a test tube.
      2. Add 5 mL of water.
      3. Place in oven at 70°C.
    • Solutions 3 and 4 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 100)
      1. Combine 0.5 mL of 2.5 mM HAuCl4 and 2.02 mL of 0.0177 mM BSA in a test tube.
      2. Add 5 mL of water.
      3. Place in oven at 70°C.
  2. Leave solutions 1 and 3 in oven for 3.5 hr.
  3. Remove solutions 2 and 4 for 10 min every 30 min for 3.5 hr.

Data

Solution 1: Au/BSA = 35, left in the oven

Solution 2: Au/BSA = 35, taken out of the oven every 30 minutes

Solution 3: Au/BSA = 100, left in the oven

Solution 4: Au/BSA = 100, taken out of the oven every 30 minutes

Notes

Solution 1 began to turn purple after 2 hr.
