Methods

MMF synthesis

  1. Dissolve 81.7 mg of MMF product into 4 mL of THF and 3 mL of MeOH under N2.
  2. Add 470 mg NaBH4.
  3. Stir at room temperature for the weekend.

MOF synthesis

  1. Synthesize PPF-18.
    1. Mix 7.9 mg of TCPP, 8.9 mg of Zn(NO3)2•H2O, 4.2 mg of DPNI, and 50 μL of 1.0 M acidic ethanol.
    2. Add 1.5 mL of DEF and 0.5 mL ethanol.
    3. Sonicate to mix.
    4. Heat in oven at 80oC over the weekend.
  2. Synthesize PPF-20.
    1. Mix 7.9 mg of TCPP, 8.9 mg of Zn(NO3)2•H2O, 16.8 mg of DPNI, and 30 μL of 1.0 M acidic ethanol.
    2. Add 1.5 mL of DMF and 0.5 mL ethanol.
    3. Sonicate to mix.
    4. Heat in oven at 80oC over the weekend.
  3. Synthesize PPF-27
    1. Add 3.2 mg of BPY to PPF-18 in a mixture of 1.5 mL DEF and 0.5 mL EtOH.
    2. Allow to react for 4 hr.
  4. Synthesize PPF-4
    1. Add 6.4 mg of BPY to PPF-18 in a mixture of 1.5 mL DEF and 0.5 mL EtOH.
    2. Allow to react for 4 hr.
