Objective

To synthesize both purple solutions (molar ratio = 70) and purple fibers (molar ratio = 166).

Description

  1. A 10 mL reaction mixture of purple solutions was prepared by mixing 0.42 mL HAuCl4 with 1 mL BSA and 8.5 mL H2O.
  2. A 1 mL reaction mixture of purple solutions was prepared by mixing 0.042 mL HAuCl4 with 0.1 mL BSA and 0.85 mL H2O
  3. A 10 mL reaction mixture of purple fibers was prepared by mixing 1 mL HAuCl4 with 1 mL BSA and 8 mL H2O.
  4. A 1 mL reaction mixture of purple fibers was prepared by mixing 0.1 mL HAuCl4 with 0.1 mL BSA and 0.8 mL H2O.
  5. The 10 mL scale reactions were placed in the oven at 80°C and the 1 mL scale reactions were placed in heat block at 80°C for 3 hours.

Data

At the end of the reaction time, the two 70 ratio reactions had formed a purple solution, while the two 167 ratios formed purple fibers.
