Objective

To cross-link PVA with maleic acid and succinic acid as the crosslinker

Description

  • 10% wt maleic acid for all gels

Gel 1 - 10% wt Maleic Acid : PVOH (MW = 22,000) in 5 mL water with 3 drops of 12 M HCl

  • Actual masses used - 0.5058 g PVOH, 0.0502 g Maleic Acid

Gel 2 - 10% wt Succinic Acid " PVOH (MW = 22,000) in 5 mL water with 3 drops of 12 M HCl

  • Actual masses used - 0.5066 g PVOH, 0.0501 g Succinic Acid

Gel 3 - 10% wt Maleic Acid : PVOH (MW = 22,000) in 5 mL water with 3 drops of 85% phosphoric acid
