We people come from very different backgrounds; there are many engineers, a lot of biologists, plenty computer science people and even some mathematicians, medics or people with more exotic backgrounds. Since Synthetic biology has contributions from many areas there are many things we aren't used to; engineers, mathematicians and biologists address problems in a different way, use different languages and have different very different skills and knowledges.  Yet if we want to cooperate (see the image on the right ) we should have a common ground.

This guide covers some very basic topics at Synthethic Biology. If you were lucky and had a patient and knowledgeable teacher that was able to explain every little detail and had acces to a properly equiped laboratory the you probably will get bored with this guide. This guide explain some things that are so basic that no one else bothers to explain.
