My academic interests are divided between biological/chemical engineering and musical composition. Specifically, I'd like to produce sophisticated chemicals via microbial engineering. Simultaneously, I would be composing music for films. There's a chance that I could introduce my two loves to each other and simply persuade bacteria to make novel drugs by serenading cell cultures with original, improvised folk tunes.

Seriously, though...I'm interested in marine biotechnology, especially the metabolic engineering of marine microbes for the bioremediation of coral reef systems and the construction of synthetic marine microbes for the production of sophisticated chemicals such as biopharmaceuticals.
