I am an Assistant Professor at UC Riverside in Plant Pathology & Microbiology.

I was a postdoc at UC Berkeley in the laboratory of John Taylor and prior to that I was a graduate student at Duke University, Program in Genetics and Genomics.

I am interested in comparative genomics of fungi to understand evolutionary processes generating population and species level variation. I also blog about fungal genome analyses and datasets and provide a wiki for genome information and our research. We are engaged in sequencing 1000 fungal genomes, studying fungal cell wall evolution, and mechanisms of genome defense for transposon control.
