Objective

For today's lab, we run our gold solutions that we made the day before in the atomic absorbance. From the results we obtained, we did a calibration curve of our results, and this is the curve we obtained.

"Figure 1. Calibratio curve of gold solutions"

Once the samples of all the groups were run, we made a calibration curve of all the groups.

For the data of this figure, we corrected by subtracting 0.0111 to all the data, in order to make the blank 0.

After this, the data of the entire class was compiled, and a calibration curve was done.

"Figure 2. Calibration curve of gold solutions of the class"

Once we have the calibration curve of the data of the class, we performed a grubb's test in order to see if there were any outliers in the data.

"Table 1. Grubbs test analysis"

Concentration(μg/mL) G value
5 1.28808163
10 1.49558295
15 1.4609882
20 1.57195821
25 1.02987324

For the Grubbs test with N=5, the G value is 1.67. As it can be observed in table 1, none of the values is bigger than 1.67, therefore there are no outliers in our data.

As we can see, the calibration curve for the class data is polynomial, and from this equation, we found the concentration of gold in our BSA and citrate samples. For BSA we found that the concentration was 37.33. For Citrate, we found that the concentration was 74.53.
