Personal

When I'm not hard at work, I enjoy reading, running, playing tennis, and spending time with my son, Julian.

A Michigan fan from birth!

My husband, Tommy Auchtung, is also a microbiologist and a graduate student in Colleen Cavanaugh's lab at Harvard Univeristy. He's passionate about Korarchaeota, a division of Archaea that is thought to be deeply rooted on the evolutionary tree. One perk about studying Korarchaeota is the interesting places he goes to collect samples (Yellowstone National Park, Kamchatka, Russia, the bottom of the ocean.) Unfortunately, I don't get to go along. Here's a link to his website: http://www.mcb.harvard.edu/losick/BBM/tommy/
