Research: My dissertation research focuses on mRNA metabolism, specifically at the stage of nuclear export.  I am interested in identifying the complete complement of factors that is required for mRNA export in a metazoan organism, such as ''Drosophila''.  Additionally I am interested in understanding how the different stages in mRNA processing, both nuclear and cytoplasmic, are coupled to the export step.
