Background: Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2004) under the supervision of David Bedwell. My thesis work involved the study of the process of translation termination in S. cerevisiae.

Current Research: Recent studies have shown how components of the nuclear transport machinery can dynamically interact with the genome in S. cerevisiae. In addition, these interactions affect the nuclear localization of bound genomic loci. Using a combination of genomic and microscopy approaches, I am investigating if and how components of the nuclear transport machinery modulate genomic organization in mammalian cells.
