Objective

Determine the effects of the presence of salt on "brain formation"

Description

Place two test tubes in an 80 degree C hot water bath. The gold to BSA ratio of both test tubes in 166:1; a ratio that typically results in aggregation. The presence of salt on aggregation will be determined, as one test tube will contain salt.

test tube A

  • 1 mL 17.7 µM BSA + 2.34 mL 2.9 mM Au + 6.66 mL water
  • .0166 grams of NaCl

test tube B

  • 1 mL 17.7 µM BSA + 2.34 mL 2.9 mM Au + 6.66 mL water

Data

  • both test tubes contained yellow fibers
