Maria Isabel Iglesias (an artistic interpretation)

I'm an undergraduate at Stanford University majoring in Bioengineering. I'm currently I'm an REU Summer '17 intern at the Endy Lab in Stanford University. Here, I am a part of the Build-A-Cel Projectl, where I will be studying the manipulation of bacterial chromosomes by conjugative assembly genome engineering (CAGE). I hope to contribute to the current understanding of bacterial conjugation mechanisms and increase the accessibility of synthetic biology techniques.

I am also involved with the Stanford School of Medicine by conducting research in the Emergency Department focusing on social determinants of health, as well as helping vulnerable patient populations receive access to community resources which could improve their health.
