Objective

  1. To re-synthesize the functionalized gold nanoparticles in hopes of not having the nanoparticles crash out of solution.

Protocol

The same protocols for synthesis of the functionalized nanoparticles were used this week as last. These protocols are as follows:

11-Mercaptoundecanamide Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis
A 50μM solution of 11-mercaptoundecanamide was made to be added to pre-made citrate gold nanoparticles. To make the stock, 2.72mg 11-mercaptoundecanamide was dissolved in 2.5mL of hot spring water. 22.5 mL of room temperature citrate gold nanoparticles was combined with the 11-mercaptoundecanamide stock. This solution is stirred for 30 seconds and left in 4 °C to react overnight.

11-Mertcapto-1-undecanol Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis
A 50μM solution of 11-Mertcapto-1-undecanol was made to be added to pre-made citrate gold nanoparticles. To make the stock, 2.72mg 11-Mertcapto-1-undecanol was dissolved in 2.5mL of hot spring water. 22.5 mL of room temperature citrate gold nanoparticles was combined with the 11-Mertcapto-1-undecanol stock. This solution is stirred for 30 seconds and left in 4 °C to react overnight.

1-undecanol Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis
A 50μM solution of 1-undecanol was made to be added to pre-made citrate gold nanoparticles. To make the stock, 0.25mL 1-undecanol was combined with 22.5 mL of room temperature citrate gold nanoparticles. This solution is stirred for 30 seconds and left in 4 °C to react overnight.
