Objectives

  • Use UV/Vis to find what mole ratios best allow unfolding of BSA and formation of gold nanoparticles from HAuCl4.
  • Obtain unfolded BSA fibers by reacting HAuCl4 and BSA at a mole ratio that allows unfolding
  1. UV/Vis was run on HAuCl4 and BSA solution with mole ratios of 120, 128, 130, 132, 133 and 134.
    1. The same cuvette was used and cleaned between each spectra.
  2. Solution was made with a mole ratio of 170
    1. 2.4268M BSA solution was used
      1. m1v1=m2v2
      2. 24.266μM * (volume) = 2.4266μM * 6mL
      3. .6mL BSA solution
    2. 2150μM HAuCl4 solution was used
      1. 2150μM * (volume) = 6*(2.4266*170)
      2. 1.151mL HAuCl4
