ObjectiveNanoparticle fiber synthesis begun on September 9th was unsuccessful. Only nanoparticle solutions were created, so today we will try to synthesize new samples of Au-NP Fibers. ProtocolStock solutions of HAuCl4 and Lysozyme were prepared by Dr. Hartings using the procedure found here. 5mL and 1 mL samples were created using the following procedure: Note: The final concentration of gold should be 0.25 mM and the final concentration of lysozyme should be 5.556 μM. This gives a Au:lysozyme ratio of 45, which should yield fibers.
The solutions were covered by aluminum foil and placed in the oven at 80°C for 4 hours. Results
